At The Zoo

Well yesterday was quite an adventure.....Kaycee and Gordon slept in, which seemed strange for a weekday...but finally they got up and they decided to get in the truck and go to Seattle and go to the Zoo!!!!!  What a fun re-live your childhood adventure.

And so they got there, it seemed like a fun place to go.  When we first got there we saw the Penguins.....they were fun to watch and seemed pretty fun.  We then went to the carousel to ride with Kaycee....what a fun adventure!!!!  Up and down on fake horses, but Kaycee enjoyed it....and so we did too.

The sad thing about being shoes is that you really don't get to see much, you just listen and walk.....but when the person who is wearing you is embracing her childish side, you go.....and you walk and walk.  But you support your girl.....because that is what shoes do.

We also went by Kaycee's childhood home....we guess for no other reason than to see how it changed.....because things do....nothing is permanent....we guess that maybe that is what the wedges were trying to tell us.....no matter how much you don't want them to, things change....and that is OK.

After the zoo and going by the house Kaycee and Gordon went to dinner at a place called Bizzaro.....it certainly was.....things were hanging off the ceiling and when Kaycee took us to the restroom there was a radio that was naming off "350 Hobo Names".....the food and wine seemed to be really good.

After a long day we all headed home, Kaycee went to "muck" the goats' house....she probably knew better than to wear us in the goat pen....but she did....and well....we're not muckalucks and Kaycee stepped in some soft goat poo.....not our most shining moment.

We enjoyed our day....but we can't help but feel there's something more.....maybe a walk in a river or a lake....we'll have to wait and see.....but other than that we are enjoying this little life with a sweet middle aged woman who loves her husband, dogs, goats, and spends time in the garden....so we'll be patient and see what the next step is for us.

First Weekend

This was our first weekend with Kaycee....and now we are snuggled up on the floor....tired....a little more worn....but content.

On Saturday we all woke up and after a busy morning Kaycee put us on her feet.  We were happy because we thought that maybe she had forgotten about us, and we were in a room with wedges, worn out flip flops and flats that told us she forgets about you....she gets tired of shoes and gets new pairs all the time, so you're not special.....you too will get left on the shoe rack....or worse....be left in the milk crate next to the shoe rack.....but they were wrong...what we know is that THEY are not Purple Shiny Salt Water Sandals.....so we will not be forgotten....at least not in the Summer.

Well....she came and put us on....her friend George came to visit and he actually made fun of our color, he mentioned someone named "Barney"....we've never heard of him....but by his tone it sounded like he was laughing at us....but when you're confident, you know that you are special, and our color is exactly what Kaycee was looking for.  Kaycee moved furniture with her friend and gave him a tour of her gardens.....we had fun....then she went to her church to drop off a fridge her friend was donating....we really don't think we were the shoes for the job, she had a hard time climbing up a hill with our slippery bottoms, and we slid on her feet a bit....we kind of wished she had left us home.  It was hard work and I don't think we would really like to be the kind of shoes a person wears to move a refrigerator....but you live and learn.

Today she wore us to Church....we liked going to church....we liked the music and the people....we liked the way Kaycee felt when she was there....then she went to the coffee hour and talked to people....she even petted the Father's dog, Toby...yes....we like church.

Kaycee put us away while she worked outside....again we were quite happy because we didn't want to get dirty, or have her get hurt wearing us while she was using her "Mantis"....but then Gordon came home and she put us back on and we went to dinner at Prima Bistro.  Kaycee and Gordon ordered Pim's Cups and Hamburgers, we could tell they were having a great time.  They ran into other restaurant people while they were there.  Gordon was happy to go to a place with other restaurant owners and feel a kinship while enjoying amazing food.....they sure know what they're doing at Prima.

So this was our first weekend.....we think we like it with Kaycee....and we're looking forward to more adventures with Kaycee while she's wearing us.

Day One

Well....we left California via the USPS, we had no idea what was ahead for us, but someone in Washington State had ordered us, and so we were off.

We traveled by air, and truck, and boat....and finally we found ourselves in a mailbox on Whidbey Island....we waited....and waited....next to bills and an invitation to a baby shower.

Finally she came.....she grabbed us......we heard her squeal...we could tell she was excited....she was trying to open us, but she couldn't.

We heard goats and dogs.....she brought us inside and cut us open....she finally got us out.  We think she was happy....she pulled us out of the box and put us on.  She walked around the house making sure we fit....and we did.

Her husband (we now know her name is Kaycee) came home from work and she put us on to show him....now we knew she was really excited.  She told him she could wear us in the water.....and maybe she could walk through the water to work and we wouldn't get ruined.

The next day she put us on.....she was late for the bus, so she drove to the Park-n-Ride and ran to the bus....we were flopping and she walked up the stairs.

We went across on the ferry....on her feet....she got lots of compliments.   Then she left work.  She walked and walked....she had packed some tennis shoes but she chose us instead.....and we felt a little sore....her chubby feet pushing us into the ground.

And so this was our first day.....we walked tons of miles, rode on a ferry, and found our way back to the house.
